Success First Learning Contract

Eastern Kentucky University is committed to providing students with every opportunity to be successful. In an effort to further expand this commitment, and to align with new state requirements, we have recently enhanced our Success First programming.

Students who are admitted with below a 2.5 unweighted high school GPA, or who haven't met certain benchmarks (English, Reading, and/or Math) on college entrance exams, will be enrolled in a well-designed set of programs to support their academic success. As a part of this programming, students will work with their academic advisors to complete a Success First Learning Contract, which will specify requirements and expectations of both the student and Eastern Kentucky University.

The goals of the contract are:

  • To provide advising, mentoring, tutoring and support services expectations.
  • To set forth learning goals.
  • To explain requirements for the financial literacy program.
  • To specify the process by which student progress will be monitored and the length of the Learning Contract.
  • To share information on how the student will declare a major after their first year.

As a part of Orientation, the student will meet with an advisor to register for courses and complete the Success First Learning Contract.  Students will also receive a Learning Contract Resource Guide at Orientation and during the first week of classes that provides a great deal of information about the many ways EKU will help with the Learning Contract during the first semester and first year of college.

For your review, you can find the link to the Learning Contract below. An original copy will be provided for your signature at Orientation.
